Linda has worked at the University of Strathclyde and in Initial Teacher Education since 1989. Having completed an MA (French & German) at the University of Glasgow, Linda then studied for a PGCE (P) at Jordanhill College of Education (now the School of Education at University of Strathclyde). Linda subsequently gained a Special Qualification in Infant Education from St Andrew's College (now University of Glasgow). Prior to Linda's appointment at the University of Strathclyde, she taught in all stages of the primary school.
During Linda's primary teaching career, her particular interests were in Curriculum Development and Literacy, including Modern Languages in the Primary School. Since joining the university Linda has maintained her interest in Literacy, contributing widely to module teaching and development in this area, as well as having an interest and expertise in the field of Enterprise/Entrepreneurial Education. Linda was part of the training team for delivery of Determined to Succeed and was Director of the Centre for Studies in Enterprise, Career Development and Work.
For the five years between 2010 and 2015 she was Course Leader for PGDE with a cohort of 700-800+ students. During this period Linda led the review process for the course, leading to a new and dynamic programme which has been praised by stakeholders.
She is currently Deputy Head of the School of Education.
